The Iron Law of Business
You will reap what you sow – is one version of the ancient Iron Law from Socrates
This basic law applies to lots of slightly different ones relevant to all businesses:
Such as “Offer something of value before expecting a reward”
Or “The more people you can help get what they want, the greater the rewards will come your way”
So when starting an online business, make sure you are very clear about the value you are adding to any product or service you offer to customers.
Yes it is possbile to copy or recycle other people content and offer a ‘me to’ affiliate product – but is your value really worth the profit you are hoping to make?
Would you be comfortable taking money from your family or friends? Or would you suggest they could get something cheaper or better elsewhere?
One important point that many people overlook completely is that the value you offer MUST be measured as the value seen by your customers – probably quite different from your idea of it’s value.
Once you have decided on the customer value you have to offer, you need to actually DO something.
Spending time training, learning new skills and playing with shiny new distracting offers are all reat ways to spend your time – but until you actually start using what you have learnt by doing something productive, you won’t be adding to your chances for success.
Putting up a website, offering products or services or driving traffic to your site = doing something productive.
Watching webinars, training videos or ebooks, reading emails, using Skype or chatting on the telephone isn’t.
