The Fallacy of Stopping Trading Your Time for Dollars
Guru’s love to paint a picture of your internet businesses running itself on auto-pilot while you are relaxing on the beach.
When you are starting out trying to make a living online this is a great way to get drawn into the cycle of buying a never ending stream of products or services in the hope they will provide you with a business in a box.
If it was really that easy, why would any real business give away something that would make them so much more money so easily? Read the disclaimer small print and be sure that not only is making money not guaranteed – in all probability it is unlikely.
So if you are just starting out the concept of exchanging your time and effort for dollars actually makes very good sense – because it will help you focus on activities that are profitable.
And once you start making $ you can improve the way you spend your limited time working to bring in either more $ or the same $ more efficiently – either by automating, outsourcing or doing the things that are productive, just like any real business.
As a business you will find that increasing the value you offer customers will result in improved profitability – with the possibility that the time you need to work for each $ you earn keeps reducing as you get better and more efficient.
Eventually getting closer to the illusion that you don’t actually need to work for your living.
