Do you have Something of Value to Start your Business?

Nobody would considering opening a real shop without having a plan and something of value to offer customers.

Many small businesses are simply resellers offering products they have purchased wholesale – making a profit on the value they offer customers by having products in stock, and taking the risk of buying in bulk to get discount prices.

Yet many people think they can start a business online without offering any real value to visitors to their website – in other words they are really trying to break the Iron Law of Business – a really tough challenge almost certain to end in tears!
Yes you can start offering affiliate products – but without some extra added value, why should potential customers stop at your website to buy, rather than one of possibly hundreds more sites offering the same?

You don’t need to pay money for any product, course or training to test if your proposed online business has any chance of long term success. Just ask youself the question – “would I pay the price I am asking for my product or service”?
Ideally you should be prepared to pay more than the price you are asking.
How much more depends on your market.
For example home electronics products with very small profit margins may only need to be competitively priced. But many other products or services like eBooks or training should be offered at prices much lower than you would be prepared to pay – or be comfortable expecting your friends and relatives to pay.

It is all very well spending time and money finding hungry markets in niches without too much competition – but please don’t lose focus on the basics of all successful businesses, by offering a product or service of real value to your prospects.
This is the best and easiest way to dramatically improve your chances of success.
Then the details of converting prospects into paying customers is almost guaranteed – before you spend time and effort improving the look of your website and driving more traffic there.
